I've been found out

Yep, it isn't easy to hide an extra planning period from snooping eyes. And the one person I didn't want to know is the one that found out. This particular teacher is working closely with me in a particular program. This is how it went down....

I was sitting in the office of an administrator who is a friend of mine. She's the one that I pulled all the CYA (Cover Your A--) moves with when I kept telling her that I was worried what people were going to think about my extra planning period. She's also the one that told me not to worry about it, that she and I would be working closely during that time to really hammer out the curriculum for two different programs. Well, as it is just the start of a new year, and we haven't delved into planning new units yet, I was sitting in her office just helping her wrap up something she was working on when in walks the one teacher I didn't want to see me. First she barges in and sits down saying that she just wanted to sit down and rest her feet. Keep in mind that her class room is a mere 15 steps farther down the fall! Really, I believe that was just her excuse and her real reason for coming in was to get to the bottom of why I was sitting in the office during 3rd period when I'd already told her my planning was 4th. Because she says very casually, "Oh. This is your planning period?"

My sweet friend immediately spoke up and explained how one of my classes had been canceled and I was going to be working on developing curriculum, etc. The entire time you could see her jaw muscles working. You know the type. She was pissed. And trying hard, and unsuccessfully, not to show it. Because the next thing she says (snidely) is "Well, at least I won't have to make copies anymore. You are going to be doing all of it. All the PowerPoints, all the photocopying."

Again, my sweet friend fires back with "Not so fast. Any requests you have for her need to come through me first." The other teacher leaves, and my friend looks at me and says "You are not her personal secretary. Do not worry about that. I'll handle it."

Whew!

Also, keep in mind that this particular teacher has finagled her way into extra planning periods for years now. This is the first year that she doesn't have one in all the (3!) years I've been there. I don't know how she does it. But she didn't succeed this year. But let me tell you she tried. And she is none too happy that I got one. But I'd like to continuously reiterate that I didn't ask for it!!!

In other news -
I just cut my grass that had been comically out of control. Definitely the eye sore of the neighborhood. All that was missing was a few old broken down rusted out cars hidden among the stalks. Not that I found any of those. Though I did run over an unidentifiable object. It looked like it must have been a mushroom before I chopped it up. I don't know what it was. Interesting.

Hope everyone has a great rest of the weekend!

What a snarky thing to say... Hope your week at school is going well and you are free of any photocopy duties!
