Homecoming!

Whew! What a week. Being the class sponsor is exhausting, but it is a lot of fun. I worked three 12 hour days in a row last week and ate fast food or pizza for dinner each of those nights! I am not even sure where to really start with all the Homecoming stuff. I guess with the important stuff.......Freshmen came in 3rd overall! Yay! I know, I know. That's almost last. But it isn't last! And that was our goal! I was so proud of my group of freshmen. They did a great job. First up, here is our completed banner. Each class is responsible for creating a huge 6' x 20' banner to hang at the pep rally. I think we did a great job.

And, yes, this is the class of 2012. Makes me feel very old. Here's a little detail. Check out those precious football players we painted!

We spent 15+ hours on this banner. You can sort of tell in the lights on the left side, but we stuck Christmas lights through the painted stadium lights so that they lit up! But, we didn't come in first. Look at what we were up against.....

Ah, yes. Therein lies the problem. It's hard to compete with students who've had years of advanced art classes....not to mention the AP art teacher is the Junior sponsor! The seniors won this part of the competion. They also won the skit. But, as promised, I filmed ours! I have also, however, been trying for 2 hours to upload the video. Another time, folks, another time. I'm giving up.
It was a lot of fun, and I think the freshmen really enjoyed it. One year though, my freshmen are going to win... But, chew on this. Last year, my freshmen came in 3rd. We beat out the sophomores. This year, my freshmean came in 3rd, again beating out the sophomores. Hmm. This year's sophomores are my last year's freshmen. What is the common denominator??

I think your banner looked great! It is clear that a lot of work was put into it. Congratulations on not finishing last! Always good when you meet your goal.
