The Great Debate

To Facebook or not to Facebook. That is the question...

Everyone has been trying to talk me into joining the Facebook craze for some time now. I've been really holding out. And now I can't believe I'm even starting to consider it. I've carefully weighed my options, and here's what I'm thinking:

To Facebook:
1. Apparently it's a great way to keep in touch with people and find people who I've not seen or heard from in years.
2. Apparently it's a lot of fun.

To Not Facebook:
1. I do not want my kids to find me. I know I can set it to private, but I don't want them to even know I've got a page.
2. I've held out this long. Why start now?
3. You can't write on it like you can write on a blog. And I love my blog.
4. Everyone that I can think of that I care about is already in contact with me. Why do I need to be in contact with friends from high school when I can't think of anyone that I want to find?
5. My blog has already put me back in contact with some long lost friends.

Let me know what you all think. How many of y'all have Facebook pages? How do I find people?

I'm headed over to The Columbia Fam's house. They've got a fire going and it's getting into the single digits tonight! You know how I love a fire.

I actually have two Facebook pages..."my" page and my teacher page. "My" page is very, very private; you can't find me at all. I allow my students to add me on my teacher page, and I put fun pictures up there so that they can see I have a life and friends :) It works really well for me!

Funny you should post this! Today I sent this article to one of my friends who is also holding out: http://www.slate.com/id/2208678/?GT1=38001

regarding your students seeing your page, you can set your profile so that you can search and find other people, but other people can't search and find you.

do it!

I finally caved, and I must say it is very addicitive. Just do it...you can always not keep up with it if you decide you don't like it (but you will like it)!

i held out for a long time and finally gave in about 4 months ago. My kids do not find me like they did on myspace. You can set it up so people can not search for you or see your pictures. I love it!
