Another Mis-Adventure in the F-150

So, I am still driving the truck.  Nightmare.  I have to park in places where no one else is around so that I can back up or get out with as few obstacles as possible!  And the latest misadventure I would like to blame on Catie, my sister.  It was her idea.....and I just don't like to take the blame for anything!  Just kidding......sort of.

I had my last (yay!) appointment with the chiropractor.  Medical benefits?  I don't think so.  Visible results in my x-rays?  Negative.  He blamed that one on me, but I would like to adhere to my previous claim that I don't like to take the blame, especially for things that are not my fault!  He said it was my fault because my visits were so sporadic.  Twice a week?  I wouldn't call that sporadic.  Maybe it is because no one in his office knew what was going on with my "treatment" so they didn't even do part of it.  No one ever wrote anything in my chart.  They had to ask me every time what it was that I'd been doing!  But I didn't bring this up because I didn't really care.  I am just telling y'all about it.  But, it did feel good to go.

Well, I was headed to my parents house from the appointment so I took Jake with me.  Jake is the dog.  And he gets hot (no fat jokes, Beau!).  So I was going to leave all the windows down for him.  Here's where Catie comes in.  She suggests that, since Jake is so susceptible to overheating (I can hear Beau now making a joke about Jake unhinging his jaw to swallow stolen pieces of birthday cake saying "Lay off me I'm starving!")....now I have to wait for y'all to quit laughing......

As I was saying, since Jake is so furry (not fat, furry) Catie suggested I leave the car running so he can sit in the AC.  Remember, the truck has AC like a freezer.  That's why I am driving it and not my car. Well, that and my AC is broken!

So I agree to do that.  I think I am being smart when I take the keyless entry fob off of the key chain and take that in with me.  I go in, get blamed for no results, and when I come back out, I discover that the keyless entry won't unlock the doors WHEN THE KEY IS IN THE IGNITION AND THE CAR IN ON AND RUNNING!  Excellent.  And you think that it would be easy to entice the dog into jumping up and down on the seat and maybe even hitting the unlock button with his paws.  Wrong.  Not in the case of Jake.  He continued to lay contentedly in the cool front seat of the truck.  He barely even turned his head as I danced around outside the window trying to excite him.  Nothing was working!  And, it 96 degrees outside!  Needless to say, I had sweat running down my back, my legs, my chest, everywhere.

My dad finally gets there.  It seems like he took as long as possible, but I guess I was only waiting about 20 minutes.  Remember how I told you that my dad is Always Prepared?  Well, he did give me a hard time for having to remove his spare key from its secret special hiding place on the car.  I blew his motto.  Or maybe I just created my own.  Rarely Prepared.  But who needs to be Always Prepared when someone else can do it for you?  Right?  Just kidding, Dad.

"If you hadn't moved that key, Emily, then you wouldn't be in this situation."

"Thanks Dad.  I appreciate that.  Really, I do.  But giving me a hard time about that isn't going to make the key get back into its hiding place.  JUST COME HELP ME!"

So he brings me a spare.  And in typical Dad fashion, before he will stick the spare in the keyhole, he of course has to try the keyless entry for himself.  Over and over again!  Didn't I just explain to him that it won't work with the key in the ignition?  He never believes me.

And I know what you are wondering.  Why didn't you go back in and sit and wait in the AC? I'll tell you why....because I felt like an idiot!  Who gets locked out of their own car with it running and a dog chilling in the front seat?  I'll tell you who!!  All three girls in the family!!!  Me and both of my sisters!!!  It has now happened to all three of us in the past month!  And with different dogs!  You'd think we'd learn our lessons.....

I'm loving the truck stories! Way more exciting than anything that ever happens in your own car.
