Edisto...again

So, as you know, I spend as much time at Edisto as I can. I just got back yesterday from Edisto after having been gone since Friday. The way I see it, I start back to work TOMORROW so I was entitled to a little R&R before I go back for the next 190 days. I know, I know. But if I've told you all once, I've told you a million times! Everyone should teach! But, as my mother likes to point out, we do need people to work other jobs, too. So thank you to all of those otherwise employed!

Here are a few pictures. My dad is driving the boat and his friend and his friend's son are with him. Bet you can't tell which one is the son and which is the friend.
This spider decided to make a home on our porch. Here are our responses upon the discovery of the spider:

My Mom: Wow! What a beautiful spider!
Her friend Ann: Woah! That is beautiful! He looks like he is wearing knee
pads.
Me: Can you knock him down with the broom and step on him please? I can't
even use that door anymore because I can't get close enough to it without going
under him!
They both look at me like I am crazy.
My mom: No. Spiders are good.
Ann: They eat mosquitoes. I hate mosquitoes.
Me: Well, use bug spray and they won't bother you. That's easy. Besides,
I'd rather be knee deep in dead bugs or contract a disease from a mosquito than
have that guy living on my porch.
(Crickets chirping.)
I can't believe I put a picture of a spider on my blog. Now I am not going to be able to look at this post anymore. And truthfully, I think he was too big to squish. It would have made a mess!
Two pictures of a beautiful sunset taken from the boat. Now, that's what I call beautiful. Not some gross spider.
Reason # 7,938,032 why I don't get in the ocean....do you see that little blob in the left hand bottom corner? Yep. Jelly fish.
And, in the upper right hand corner! But that one is a little blurred. There were thousands of them. They looked like floating mushrooms. Just below the surface of the water. None of them were very big, and I couldn't see any tentacles. I was tempted to try to scoop one up in a cup but I was nervous. There were so so many of them floating in the river. Do all kinds sting? You wouldn't have believed how many there were.

I'm right there with ya on the teacher workdays. Oh well, people do need to make a difference in some children's lives...guess we're the ones to do it! :)
Have a good day back tomorrow...our first day is Friday.
