I H-E-A-R-T Michael Phelps

Do you hear that, Michael!?

I really think Micheal Phelps is the bomb. He's the only person who can eat 12,000 calories a day and still not have an ounce of fat on his entire body. How do you even consume 12,000 calories a day without going to McDonalds or Taco Bell? Could I even manage to eat that many in one day!? Of course, I also hear that he swims 50 miles a week! A week! Amazing. Well, there's my answer. I could be in that good of shape with a little effort! Of course, I'd have to quit my job, and I don't think my dad would really understand.
And I am sure that if you didn't see the mens 4X100 free relay live, then you've seen it a million times in replay. (This is where my seudo-rock star story from this past weekends jaunt to Edisto comes in).

I was at my new favorite bar Whaleys sitting by myself at the bar watching TV. Specifically, the Olympics. I love the Olympics. I was with my friend Caitlin, her boyfriend, and her parents. They were in another room playing a video game so I sat up at the bar by myself. Soon, several other people (all men 37+) had gathered around and were watching the swim meet with me. Caitlin likes to refer to them as tasty little licks. So, my eyes were completely glued to the TV while these four other guys stood around me showing me pictures of their kids, talking about how all their kids swim on the swim team in their hometown, and how they all live in the same neighborhood and drive golf carts around to see each other. Apparently, the one guy (the seudo-rock star!) has had a career change and is now a real estate agent and sells all of his friends houses in his neighborhood so they can all hang out. All but this one guy who bought a house in a neighborhood across the street instead of in "the" neighborhood. I don't think he'd ever really thought about it until I pointed it out to him. He got shafted! It was funny. Well, I thought it was. I think he wants to move across the street now! So anyway, all this talk is going on around me until we all slowly realize that the Americans are gaining on the French! In the last 15 yards of the last leg of the relay! When the Americans won, the entire bar erupted into cheers! It was so much fun. That's why I love the Olympics. And why I h-e-a-r-t Michael Phelps!

But you know who I really love? Aaron Peirsol! Isn't he hot!? So cute! Don't you agree!? I wonder if these boys are single?

(From ESPN)
Oh, and the suedo-rock star was the original bassist for Cravin' Melon! So for the whole next day, I had the chorus to "Sweet Tea" stuck in my head!
And on the eighth daaaaaayyyyy, God made sweet teeeeeeeeaaaaaa!
Oops. Now you do, too. Sorry!
In other news-
*Today was the first day back for teachers. Not bad. I don't mind work days. They are usually productive since there are no kids around. I swear, I'd almost work 365 days a year with no students! Mainly, we had meetings and things like that. It wasn't bad. 189 more to go!
*As of this afternoon, I have a great schedule! Please, oh, please don't change it! For those of you who think this sounds absurd, it is. Yes, my administration could easily change my schedule days before the start of school. It sucks.
I am teaching freshmen (ugh) but this time I asked to teach freshmen instead of finding out two days before school started like the last time I taught them. The reason is that I am going to be working with struggling readers and writers, and that is what my masters is in! I have one more class to take in the fall at USC and I will be done. So that should be fun. Or, at the least, intersting. I am also going to still be teaching in the program I taught in last year. This is why I go to Atlanta for a week of training in the summer time. Now I hope my kids are good. I'll find that out next Thursday. That's what the count down on the right is for.......
*Is there anything going on in the Olympics besides swimming and gymnastics? I think that is the only thing NBC is covering. That, and the occassional beach volleyball match where the American girls are dominating. Their record since Athens in 2004 is something like 458-18. Dang. And I bet those 18 were way back in the beginning.
*I think it's time to start looking for a job with the International Olympic Committee.
