This time it's politics as told by a ninth grader.

My kids have been extremely into the Obama election and subsequent inauguration. They also got really into the election process. Many of my students were big Hillary fans. Therefore they were incensed at Obama's nomination of Hillary Clinton as his.....secretary! Hilarious. It went down as follows:

Student: Miss! Can you believe it? Obama picked Hillary to be his SECRETARY! And she wants to be it!

Me: Wait a minute. I think you've got this wrong.

Student: No I don't. I saw it on the news. Just because he beat her out doesn't mean she needs to be his secretary! That is not fair! I can't believe she isn't upset!

Me: Honey, she isn't going to be his secretary.....

Student: Yes she is!

Me: No. He asked her to be the Secretary of State. That's a huge honor and a big job.

Student: (blank stare)

Me: Does that make sense?

Student: So she isn't going to be his secretary? She's not answering phones?

Me: No. Way more than that. Secretary is just part of the title.

Student: Ohhhh. OK.

And that was all it took to clear up a little confusion. Not sure he understood the magnitude of the position, but at least he knows she's not scheduling his appearances or something like that! So funny!

I agree with Red and White Preppy -- I think I would scream at having to explain some of that!

That is hysterical!! I love that teenagers care about politics, though.
