So I've gone from one hiatus to another. Sorry for being out of touch!
I am currently in Perugia, Italy with my entire family. And I mean all six members. It is wonderful. My brother has been studying here since mid May and on July 3rd, the rest of us boarded a plane and flew to Italy to hang out. Perugia is hands down one of the greatest places I have ever been. It's a very quaint town with a huge center square. We got here on Saturday while the rest of you were probably celebrating the fourth. We celebrated by traveling. My mother did carry a red and white striped bag and tied a custom blue towel to the bag. We spent most of the day in transit. We flew the 8 hours to London then caught a 2 hour flight to Florence and a 2 hour train ride from there to Perugia. We are staying at the Hotel Fortuna which was built in the 13 C as an old house. It is spectacular, but old. Old as in the people on the floor above me woke me up this morning and it sounded like they were dropping marbles all over the floor.
The hotel is a lot like Hogwarts, for those of you Harry Potter fans. Stair cases everywhere. We have two rooms on the 2nd floor, but they are each on different levels. It's hard to remember how to get from one room to the other. Much less to get back down here to the computer!
We spent the day today walking all over Perugia, after we all recovered from our hang overs. The four kids and our mom stayed out in the square until 3 in the morning last night. We made a ton of new friends and dranks some seriously strong drinks. We had a blast but paid for it this morning.
Tomorrow we are catching a 10:00 train back to Florence for three nights there. I have been to Florence before (last year on the field trip) and I am looking forward to going back.
I hope to be able to write from Florence. And I will post all of the pictures when I get back home on July 10. Tuesday is my 30th birthday and I am looking forward to finding some crazy way to celebrate it in Italy!
Disregard the typos. An Italian keyboard is hard to get the hang of!
